Media Rant
TV, InterWeb and newspapers too
All moved far away from what they were supposed to do
To a place where facts are secondary priority
Their goal is their profit and their maximum reach
Free speech matters to me, it should matter to you too
But in a country where we’ve got it, it’s misused
All the bitching ’bout celebrities in glossy magazines
Where’s the real news gone to?
Where’s the real news gone?
Even on the BBC you now see them talking about
Some famous couple broke up
Give ‘em some privacy for God’s sake
They didn’t ask for their lives to be invaded so relentlessly
It’s not right for a private life to be in the public eye
But it’s demand and supply
So let’s stop demanding to see actors shopping with their kids on a Sunday afternoon
The media machine that we’ve got today, is not so profound
Half of it’s filler, the other half biased tripe
I can’t find any objectivity in their words
Just money-driven opinions spouted from one channel another
I admit I watch Big Brother when it’s that time of year
But if they’ve chosen that role then it’s perfectly clear
That they want the attention
But we’ve gotta draw the line somewhere
We’ve gotta draw the line somewhere
Even on the BBC you now see them talking about
Some famous couple broke up
Give ‘em some privacy for God’s sake
They didn’t ask for their lives to be invaded so relentlessly
It’s not right for a private life to be in the public eye
But it’s demand and supply
