Saturday Sun

Lookin over the old tree I recline
Persistent pain propels my thoughts and I realise
A day’s real work has left me with an ache in my body
And ever-more confusion in my mind

The Saturday sunshine brings a smile to my face
The pain disappears
And the day’s labour just slips away
It’s all I need to brighten up my day

Baskin in my day’s reward
I sing a song
About the state of things in my life today
I end up with a tune about the sunshine
Showing I’m grateful to a ball of fire, I know no better way

The Saturday sunshine brings a smile to my face
The pain disappears
And the day’s labour just slips away
It’s all I need to brighten up my day

Fingers cold I shiver
But still play on, still sing
About a sky lit golden
About the Saturday sun
It’s a shade away from perfect
As the sun goes down
I thank the time and town
For a night like this

Adrenaline in my veins
My mind still races
Six hours on a farm’s left me like this
Agriculture’s clearly not my future
Even with a hyperspeed brain still
I don’t know what really is

The Saturday sunshine brings a smile to my face
The pain disappears
And the day’s labour just slips away
It’s all I need to brighten up my day

[instr. break]

The Saturday sunshine brings a smile to my face
The pain disappears
And the day’s labour just slips away
It’s all I need to brighten up my day
